Anderson was presented with the Kaufman Award for his years of outstanding and meritorious service to the St. Louis Section. Lester S. Kauffman was the innovative founder, organizer, and first President of the ASQ St. Louis Section. To commemorate his memory, the St. Louis Section designated a plaque in 1952 to be awarded each year to the person who had performed outstanding and meritorious service to the Section.
Anderson also received ASQ recognition for his work on the 64th annual ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement. He was presented with a testimonial award by ASQ Chair Peter Andres for his leadership role as the St. Louis Site Committee Chair, where he brought together a team of 100 volunteers to assist with the 5-day international conference for over 2,000 quality professionals from around the world. Anderson was also presented with a second award, by ASQ St. Louis Chair Steve Mundwiller, for outstanding representation of the St. Louis Section 1304 at the ASQ 2010 conference.
"Chris worked behind the scene to help bring the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement to St. Louis," said Mundwiller. "The ASQ Conference has not been in St. Louis for many decades and Chris did a fantastic job recruiting volunteers, organizing tasks, and delivering a well run program."
The ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement is the largest quality conference in the world. Past keynote speakers include Alan Mulally, President and CEO, Ford Motor Company; Sister Mary Jean Ryan, Chair and CEO, SSM Health Care; Terry Jones, Founder and CEO, Travelocity; and more. Each year the conference provides attendees with quality learning of new and classic quality techniques; networking with attendees and exhibitors; and benchmarking best practices in the International Team Excellence Award process.
About Chris Anderson
Anderson holds a Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, IL). He is a graduate of the Missouri Enterprise Advanced Manufacturing Specialist Training Program, an 18-month black belt training program covering Six Sigma, Business, and Lean Enterprise techniques. He has served as a Missouri Quality Award (MQA) Examiner, a Baldrige based criteria, and an ISO 9000 auditor.
Anderson is a senior member of ASQ, and holds many ASQ certifications: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality /Operational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) and Certified Quality Improvement Analyst (CQIA). He is a past chair of ASQ St. Louis, Section 1304, has served as ASQ Region 13 Deputy Regional Director and on the Lean Division Leadership, Membership and Training Committees. He is currently a member of the Six Sigma, Lean, and Quality Management Divisions of ASQ as well as ASQ St. Louis section 1304 leadership team.
